WOOL, SHEEP & KNITTING RETREAT
Faroe Islands
Dates: mai/june 2027
&
mai/june 2028
In the Faroe Islands, sheep, wool, and knitting are woven into daily life. For centuries wool was the islands’ main export, and it remains at the heart of Faroese culture.
Today that heritage lives on in creativity. With only 55,000 people, the islands are home to a remarkable number of knitwear fashion brands, along with four yarn producers, two mills, and countless knitters. Only the sheep outnumber the people.
Your guide, Sissal Kristiansen, is a Faroese knitwear designer and the founder of Shisa Brand. She is also a passionate wool advocate, working to promote Faroese wool and knitwear, through The Wool Islands. She has spent her life sharing the islands’ creativity and culture with visitors, and she opens doors a solo traveler never could.
